The Beach of the King means Playa del Rey in Spanish and this blog is for voters in the 35th CD who live in Upper Playa, Westchester, Inglewood, sections of South L.A., Mar Vista and Playa Vista, West Athens, Hawthorne, Gardena, El Camino Village, Lawndale and Del Aire. The blog's about the contest between incumbent Maxine Waters, facing House charges of corruption, and fiscally conservative Republican Bruce Brown. Comments to posts are welcome and I encourage you to vote in the straw poll too!

Those involved in last year's campaign continue to look for ways to make a positive difference in our world! Bruce Brown is in private business as President of Rackleff Industries in Orange County. I have returned full force to the all-volunteer Coast Guard Auxiliary as a Division Officer, nine years now, and ramping up my consulting work in public relations and public affairs. Maureen Johnson has moved higher in the ranks of the Republican Party as well she should carrying forth an energy and flair that made the CA 35th CD campaign, in many ways, fun! THE LAST POST

It's getting to clinch time so let's make it a Magic Carpet ride through Tuesday night. Bruce Brown has the backing of the National Republican Congressional Committee - most welcome - and the media run is just about complete with the Daily Breeze profile still up in the batter's circle.

Nobody told us the Maxine Waters can't be beat so we will. An internal poll as of last week had the candidates at about 50-50, same with a TOPIX poll.

We have positioned volunteers at key intersections in the western area of District 35 for three weeks now. We do not encourage responses save for holding a sign up with a smile. Throughout this effort, we are getting about an 85% thumbs up for Bruce, and two Golden Retrievers, one Beagle and one Terrier have loudly barked for freedom!

By the way, if you have an inside track with the incumbent, please tell her that she represents portions of Playa del Rey, Playa Vista and Del Rey -- not all as she stated in this week's Argonaut. Really, she should have a better idea of where her constituents are.

Bruce does. That is yet another reason why YOU should vote for HIM!

THE "NEIGHBORHOOD IN AMERICA" AND "TALK IN THE PARK" VIDEOS

Michael Reagan said on FOX News Channel last July that Maxine Waters could not be beat. Thanks Mike. But despite our best efforts he was right and she pulled a 79% to 21% squeeker out of the hat. She also had a budget of $500,000. Suffice to say, we did not. The CA 35th CD is a mixed bag, demographically, politically, geographically and illogically.... So one important thing we tried to do in the campaign was to actually show the diversity in the district by actually showing the district. I doubt anyone every did that before. So I took a beat up VHS camera and set out on a mission. And we did this through three videos under the banner "A Neighborhood in America." Bruce Brown and I also found an empty park bench and produced an interview series called "A Talk in the Park." No production values due to no funds. But plenty of content. Who says you need a lot of money? Well, o.k., you need a lot of money. They can be viewed at the bottom of this blog, in order.

The election campaign is nearing its end and we need funds for advertising and promotion as many in the district do not even know Maxine Waters has a challenger! Also, ask family and friends who live in the district who would like to see the incumbent defeated to donate as well, as we are adopting a new social media technique called 'Word-of-Mouth and Word-of-Mouse' to reach as many people within District 35 as possible. If you are out of the area and would like to see the current representative voted out of office, please donate as well, as soon as possible.

When you hand someone a flier or drop one off by the front door, maybe that's 150 words about a candidate. And don't get me wrong, we are doing that, in earnest, although we have got a lot of ground to cover so the more people willing to walk the neighborhoods for the good of our country, and district, all the better.

Yet we do have websites, blogs, Twitter and Facebook all working in support of Bruce Brown in his run for Congress, and today a new website was added to the voting tally tool-kit.

Then we have this site, we call ABK for short, which you already know about because you are on it!

And don't forget that all the campaign videos can be found by going to YouTube and putting in californiashoreguy1 and then clicking into the videos to see them all. Some are here at the bottom of this page.

As always, it's word-of-mouth and word-of-mouse so fan out and tell others what is coming up on November 2 and what you all can do to put a responsible Congressional leader in place! Spread the word we need money too as the campaign heats up leading to the election.

Send out notes and e-mails to those you feel would like to know about the Bruce Brown campaign and specify the precise website addresses so they can be easily opened.

TODAY'S OUTREACH DEMANDS CREATIVE SOLUTIONS

Let's see, what traditional media do we have in the 35th CD? Two large dailies that drift into some of the communities. Two weekly newspapers that serve diverse ends of the geographic range. Two monthly newspapers that we can find. No radio, no local television.

This calls for creative thinking...

We have the Internet!

Before anyone went to the polls in the 2008 Presidential election, Barack Obama had 20 million votes in hand at about the same time John McCaine was cranking out fliers. Seems the election's winner had relied on websites, blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Linked-in, Facebook and mySpace to reach potential voters.

That is what we are doing to. It is called a "word-of-mouth and word-of-mouse" strategy to let voters know that no only does Maxine Waters have an opponent, but an energized and compelling one at that -- Bruce Brown.

So while we don't have the traditional media, or traditional funding right now, we do have electricity and PCs to spread the word of what voters should know about the challenger reaching out to Republicans, Independents and, even, Democrats.

The end result -- you are reading something now that wasn't available ten years ago. And that is very, very good.

HOW TO FIND THE CAMPAIGN VIDEOS HERE AND ELSEWHERE

The website http://ww.brucebrowncampaignupdates has plenty of videos to show you to give you a better idea of Bruce Brown and our district.

In the two 6:45 cuts shot simply sitting at a picnic table in a Westchester park is a chance to give youa strong up-close-and-personal indication of the candidate's intelligence, sincerity and convictions as he seeks to be our leader in Congress. Then we have posted an in-studio appearance by the candidate talking about key issues.

Of special interest, given that it would be hard to find any other Congressional candidates who would to to the trouble, is the three-part 'A Neighbohood in America' series, with the first segment covering Playa del Rey, east of Pershing, a section of the Wetlands in the 35th CD, Playa Vista, parts of Mar Vista and Howard Hughes Center. Segment Two includes Westchester and parts of LAX I could take footage of without getting put in the slammer. The final segment features landmarks and landscapes of Inglewood, sections of South L.A., Gardena, Lawndale, El Camino Village and Hawthorne.

Bruce Brown and I, along with all the other dedicated and energetic campaign volunteers, will keep walking and talking around the district as the election fast approaches on November 2. We've got lots to do! And can't wait to do it and get a chance to meet you!

BILL O'REILLY OCT 1 DEMAND FOR MAXINE WATERS APOLOGY

"Yesterday Rupert Murdoch, CEO of Fox News' parent company, traveled to Capitol Hill to urge passage of a fair immigration law. Maxine Waters, a far-left zealot, turned the immigration testimony into an anti-Fox News diatribe, complaining about 'hosts talking about anchor babies.' Ms. Waters gives herself away with the 'anchor babies' line - for her the issue is not about legal immigration, it's about illegal immigration, which she likes and wants. Some of us here at Fox News believe chaotic illegal immigration is harmful to the country. That doesn't make us anti-immigration, it makes us anti-lawbreaking. We have robust debates here with plenty of views on immigration. Congresswoman Waters may notice that on our cable news competition they don't have any of that - they just toe the liberal line and that's what Ms. Waters wants. To accuse Fox News of being anti-immigrant is dishonest and disreputable. Ms. Waters owes this entire network an apology."

The Factor welcomed Democratic Congressman Luis Gutierrez, who participated in the hearing at which Maxine Waters made her anti-Fox accusations. "I never say no to an opportunity to be on Fox News," Gutierrez began. "I do it because all too often the point of view of having a fair and just immigration system doesn't get covered on Fox News. When I come on, there's usually an anti-immigrant Congressman." Gutierrez refused to comment on Waters' characterization, saying "I think it is unfair to ask me to come here and act as a spokesperson for any other member of Congress." The Factor challenged Gutierrez to set the record straight: "This is the premier broadcast on Fox News and we have been flat-out fair in this debate, we put on just as many liberal voices as conservative voices. But Ms. Waters characterizes Fox News as 'anti-immigrant.' Mr. Gutierrez, you know that's not true.

BRUCE BROWN CAMPAIGN BEGINS IN EARNEST

The Bruce Brown for Congress campaign kicked off in District 35 with an advertisement in the September edition of the Westchester Hometown News, which is circulated throughout Westchester, Playa del Rey and Playa Vista.

Bruce also has begun leading a volunteer teams walking the neighborhoods and has spoken to two significant community groups so far.

These are the first steps in a recognition campaign to grow in volume with additional individual monetary contributions in the weeks to come.

You can donate to the campaign through the candidate's website, brucebrowncampaignupdates.com, which contains informaton on how to make a contribution through a credit card.

Or simply make out a check to 'Bruce Brown for Congress' and mail it to him at P.O. Box 5306, Playa del Rey, CA, 90293. (Federal Election Laws put a cap of $2,400 per person.)
